[edit] Gameplay

[edit] Controls and Movement

Hellgate: London employs the WASD controls from most first-person shooters and puts it into its first person RPG. You can look around by moving the mouse. This allows for full control over your character in the 3D environment. Spacebar allows the character to jump. Alt shows the dropped loot.

[edit] Attacking

Firing weapons is as easy as pressing the left or right mouse button. The left mouse button will attack with the weapon in your left hand and the right mouse button, the right weapon.

If you are in the skills-tab, you're able to assign skills instead of "left or right hand" to your mousebuttons. If you're not able to use the assigned skill, your character will attack normaly with both weapons.

[edit] Minimap

Flagship Studios has added a minimap display in the upper right corner that allows you to see a small graphic of your surrounding area. This minimap will also lead you to quest locations.

In the minimap are buttons to zoom in and out. Press and hold the "Alt"-key and click it. Most frequently needed is the map completely zoomed out to get an overview, but especially in stations you'll need it to be zoomed in.

[edit] Hotkeys

1-0, - and + can be used to assign skills or items to the respective key. A weapon can be placed in one of these slots to quickly switch weapons or a skill can be assigned to give easy access to perform the skill effectively.

In the options you can assign all the hotkeys to other keys. (in the german version it is "q" and "e" instead of - and +)

[edit] Multiplayer

While Flagship Studios has stated that Hellgate will have some form of free online multiplayer, there will also be a premium multiplayer experience. Flagship is still figuring out how the operation of such a service will be funded, but potential candidates are monthly fees, expansion packs, or in game advertising.

The online multiplayer will be primarily instanced for each group. Towns and meeting places will allow for a higher number of groups and people. Only members of your group will be able to enter your instance outside of towns.

[edit] Mini-Game

The Mini-Game appears in the lower-right corner of the screen, near your power meter and quest tracking. It consists of three small icons; usually with numbers on them. If you can count the numbers on the icons down to zero and light all three of them up, you’ll instantly witness three or four high-quality items drop at your feet.

More information can be found on the Mini-Game article.

[edit] Achievements

Various tasks can be completed by the player throughout the course of the game. Upon completion of these tasks a player earns achievement points. Although these have not yet been implemented, they will be used in the future to buy unique gear.

Here is a listing of Achievements.
